Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- Colombo High Court Judge Lanka Jayaratne today ordered that the case against former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, filed over the alleged acquisition of assets worth more than Rs. 75 million, be taken up again for evidence on October 22.
The indictments were filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), alleging that during a five-year period as a Cabinet Minister, Weerawansa had acquired assets and properties that could not have been earned through his Ministerial salary and other legitimate income sources.
