Sri Lanka, Oct. 14 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, seeking to be released on bail in the event of being arrested by the Bribery Commission.

Delivering the final page of a 15-page order, the Magistrate stated that the court was not satisfied with the reasons presented by the petitioner in claiming that the Bribery Commission was attempting to arrest him with malice and therefore, the anticipatory bail application was dismissed.

Appearing on behalf of the former Minister, counsel Asthika Devendra informed the court that his client would appear before the Bribery Commission tomorrow to make a statement.
