Sri Lanka, Jan. 20 -- The spread of several viral diseases is on the rise due to the prevailing cold weather conditions, Gampaha Hospital Senior Medical Officer Dr. Ravinda Udagamage warned.
Speaking at a media briefing, Dr. Udagamage said the current cold and dry climate has created an environment conducive to the rapid transmission of viral infections, particularly among young children.
He said that most of the illnesses being reported affect the upper respiratory tract.
"These viral diseases mainly impact the upper part of the respiratory system. They tend to spread easily, especially among preschool-aged children," Dr. Udagamage cautioned.
