Sri Lanka, April 11 -- Officials attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have sealed the office of Lanka Coal Company (Pvt.) Ltd. as part of an ongoing investigation into coal imports.
Earlier, police said that special police protection would be provided to the company's office following a complaint lodged by the Secretary to the President.
Police said that the complaint, submitted to the CID this morning (April 11), calls for a formal investigation into coal imports dating back to 2009. The request is based on findings from audit reports and parliamentary proceedings, which indicate possible irregularities in the importation of coal into Sri Lanka.
