SriLanka, Oct. 1 -- The Government is taking steps to strengthen Sri Lanka's child protection system by integrating relevant institutions and introducing necessary policies and laws, Deputy Minister of Women and Child Affairs Dr. Namal Sudarshana said.

In a message issued to mark World Children's Day, the Deputy Minister said the Government's primary objective was to protect children from all forms of abuse and violence while safeguarding their rights.

He said a stronger child protection mechanism was being developed by coordinating various institutions involved in preventing abuse and violence against children.

"We are taking the necessary legal steps to further strengthen these measures," he said.
