Chief Magistrate orders probe into Wimal's remarks on court order
Sri Lanka, Sept. 18 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today directed the Inspector General of Police to investigate into whether former Minister Wimal Weerawansa's remarks made at a rally on September 12 amounted to contempt of court and to report the findings to court.
Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court that the court should consider whether the remarks made by Weerawansa at the rally concerning an order issued by the court against Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa on the previous hearing date amounted to contempt of court.
The Deputy Solicitor General made these submissions while producing a CD containing footage of the remarks made at the rally.
