Central Province Governor Sarath Abeykoon resigns
Sri Lanka, July 15 -- Central Province Governor Prof. Sarath Abeykoon has tendered his letter of resignation from the post of Governor to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, citing personal reasons.
Prof. Abeykoon, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, has submitted his letter of resignation to the President. However, it is not yet clear whether the resignation has been accepted, as no official statement has been issued by the President's Office.
The resignation comes at a time when the post of Secretary to the Governor of the Central Province is also vacant following the retirement of Manjula Madahapola.
