Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the publication of a new draft Bill aimed at preventing and combating organised crime in Sri Lanka.

The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting held on March 30, 2026, following the preparation of the draft legislation by the Drafting Officer.

The proposed Bill seeks to establish legal provisions to implement the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime, strengthen national and international cooperation in preventing and combating serious crimes, and protect society from threats posed by organised crime groups.

The Attorney General has already given clearance for the draft Bill.
