Sri Lanka, Sept. 14 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has conducted more than 1,000 island-wide raids on electrical and electronic goods so far this year, including 204 raids carried out under a recent special programme.

The special raids were conducted from August 25 to 29 and were resumed on September 8 and 9 based on information gathered during the initial operations.

The CAA said more than 1,150 electrical and electronic items were seized as case material or taken into official custody during the 204 raids, with legal action being initiated against those responsible.

The raids focused on products including extension cords, multi-sockets, plug tops, switch sockets, power cords, LED bulbs, chargers, electrical adapters, torche...
