Sri Lanka, Oct. 22 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has announced revised maximum retail prices (MRPs) for imported rice varieties, effective from Monday (21).
The new regulations, issued under the Consumer Affairs Authority Act No. 9 of 2003 (as amended), were published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2459/12 dated October 21.
According to the order signed by CAA Chairman Hemantha Samarakoon, the new MRPs are as follows: Imported Raw Rice - Rs. 210 per kilogram, Nadu Rice - Rs. 220, Samba Rice - Rs. 230, Ponni Samba (GR 11/Keeri Samba) - Rs. 240, and Kiri Ponni or Paal Ponni (GR 11) - Rs. 255 per kilogram.
