Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- Acting Director of the Police Cultural Division, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Satish Gamage, has been arrested by officers from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
The arrest, which took place while the officer was on duty at the Police Field Force Headquarters, is in connection with alleged multiple bribery incidents.
It was reported that SSP Gamage is accused of accepting over Rs. 100 million in bribes from underworld gang leaders and drug traffickers.
Investigations have revealed that the funds were deposited into his personal bank accounts, as well as those of his relatives and associates.
He will be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today (14).
