Sri Lanka, Oct. 8 -- Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) has recorded a 14.4 percent increase in flight traffic during the first eight months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
A total of 44,185 flights were completed between January and August 2025, up from 38,607 flights in the first eight months of 2024. August saw the highest monthly traffic this year, with 5,976 flights completed.
Airport authorities and airline companies have attributed the growth to rising demand ahead of the upcoming tourist season. They have expressed confidence in managing the increased traffic while ensuring efficient service for passengers during the peak travel period.
