Badulla reservoirs spill, downstream warning issued
Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- The Irrigation Department has warned people living in downstream areas of reservoirs and waterways to remain vigilant as two reservoirs in the Badulla district are currently spilling.
According to the Water Management Division of the Irrigation Department, as of 12.30 p.m. today (07), the Ambewela Reservoir in the Badulla division has reached spilling status, with two spill outlets opened, releasing water into the Mahaweli Ganga.
The Bomuruella Medium Reservoir, also located in the Badulla division, is also spilling, with three spill outlets opened.
