Sri Lanka, Oct. 17 -- A Sri Lanka Army officer and Paralympic gold medalist, Warnakulasuriya Amila Prashan, has died after being hit by a train in the Madurankuliya area.
The 34-year-old, a father of two from Kirthisinghegama, Madurankuliya, had won gold medals in the 100m and 200m events at the 2018 Paralympic Games in Indonesia, representing the Sri Lanka Army. He was a disabled officer serving at the Boossa Camp.
Police said that the officer was struck by the Bangadeniya train traveling from Colombo to Puttalam on the night of October 15.
His body was discovered on the railway track near Madurankuliya town yesterday afternoon following a call from residents, Madurankuliya Police said.
