Sri Lanka, Feb. 18 -- Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Anura Karunathilaka informed Parliament that he has resigned from the Select Committee of Parliament probing the release of 323 containers, on his own accord whereas the Opposition claimed that he did so due to their request.
The Minister told Parliament that the Speaker appointed him as a member of the committee to look into and report to Parliament on the release of 323 containers from the Port of Colombo without undergoing mandatory physical inspection and submit its proposals and recommendations when he was functioning as the Minister of Urban Development.
