Sri Lanka, Sept. 18 -- The Court of Appeal today fixed September 30 to announce its decision on a writ petition filed by Parliamentarian Dilith Jayaweera challenging the legality of a complaint lodged by the Colombo Fort Magistrate in connection with contempt of court proceedings.

A three-judge bench of the Court of Appeal, comprising President of the Court, Justice Rohantha Abeysuriya, Justice Chamath Morais and Justice Adithya Patabendige, announced that its decision on the writ application would be delivered on September 30.

The contempt of court proceedings were initiated before the Court of Appeal against six individuals, including Dilith Jayaweera, based on a complaint filed by Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena. The Magistr...
