Sri Lanka, Sept. 7 -- Venerable Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thera, who was arrested by Batticaloa Police today, has been remanded until tomorrow (7) after being produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate's Court.

The Thera was arrested in connection with an alleged incident involving the obstruction of duties of officers of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau in Batticaloa.

Following his arrest, he was produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate's Court, which ordered that he be remanded in custody until tomorrow.
