Sri Lanka, Sept. 23 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake completes two years in office today, seemingly with satisfaction of his thus far performance and perhaps with uncertainty over the future.
Although former Presidents Ranasinghe Premadasa and Maithripala Sirisena also hailed from ordinary backgrounds, they had been elevated to the elite class when they assumed power. However, it was Dissanayake who will go down in history as the first leader to come from both a working-class family and a remarkably humble background even when assuming power.
