90 cocaine capsules in stomach: Ugandan held at BIA
Sri Lanka, Sept. 14 -- A 43-year-old Ugandan national who allegedly swallowed around 90 cocaine-filled pills worth more than Rs.50 million was arrested by officers of the Customs Narcotics Control Division at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday (13), officials said.
The suspect, a farmer from Uganda, had allegedly swallowed the cocaine capsules in Entebbe before travelling to Doha, Qatar. He subsequently arrived in Sri Lanka on Qatar Airways flight QR-664 yesterday morning.
According to Customs officials, the suspect remained on the first floor of the airport until around noon, after which officers acting on intelligence received by the Customs Narcotics Control Division intercepted him.
