Mumbai, Sept. 4 -- Welspun Corp, the Mumbai-based pipe and steel manufacturer, and Perma-Pipe, a United States (US) pipeline systems provider, have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish pipe manufacturing facilities in Jordan. The agreement outlines plans to create a regional hub to serve markets in the Middle East, Africa and Europe. The partners said the initiative aims to shorten supply chains and enhance local availability of pipeline solutions. The move aligns with broader industry efforts to localise production.
Under the terms of the memorandum of understanding, the partners will evaluate sites, invest in production lines and develop logistics networks to support large diameter and specialty pipe manufacturing. The project will cover fabrication, coating and testing functions and is intended to support energy, water and industrial infrastructure projects across neighbouring regions. The facility design will follow international standards and incorporate automated processes to improve efficiency and quality. The companies will coordinate with Jordanian authorities on approvals and incentives.
Welspun Corp and Perma-Pipe will leverage their respective technical expertise and market reach to accelerate the project timeline and ensure supply continuity for customers. Welspun Corp will bring fabrication experience and established client relationships in the energy sector while Perma-Pipe will provide specialised thermal and corrosion protection technologies. The collaboration is designed to reduce lead times for regional projects and to offer localised support for maintenance and spare parts.
Stakeholders said the initiative is intended to stimulate local employment and support the development of supplier ecosystems in Jordan, contributing to regional industrial growth. The partners will continue feasibility work and define investment amounts, capacity targets and commissioning schedules as the project progresses. Officials will provide further updates as definitive agreements are finalised. The companies reiterated their intent to advance the venture in coordination with regional customers and authorities.
