Mumbai, Oct. 29 -- WABAG has secured a Mega order from Reliance Industries (RIL) for the design, engineering, supply, installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and Performance Guarantee Test Run of a desalination plant and a remineralisation plant at Jamnagar in Gujarat. The domestic project will be executed in phases over 25 months.
The desalination facility will have an initial capacity of 8,400 m3/hr and is designed for expansion to 12,600 m3/hr, equivalent to 302 MLD. The associated remineralisation plant will have a capacity of 3,000 m3/hr and will use a limestone-based process system.
The water treatment train will include lamella clarifiers, dissolved air flotation filters and an ultrafiltration system, supported by chemical dosing and backwash systems. It will then use seawater reverse osmosis and brackish water reverse osmosis systems, along with dosing, product-water storage and brine outfall pumping infrastructure.
The remineralisation facility will comprise limestone filters, a lime-handling system, carbon dioxide storage and dosing equipment, and storage and pumping systems. WABAG said the order strengthened Reliance Industries' confidence in its technology and execution capabilities, while expanding its presence in the global desalination market.
The company classified the contract as a Mega domestic order, a category applicable to domestic order inflows above Rs. 10 bn. The award covers the complete project scope through performance testing, rather than only equipment supply. The order does not involve a related-party transaction, and WABAG reported that the awarding entity has no promoter or promoter-group interest in the contract.
WABAG is an Indian water technology group serving municipal and industrial customers. It says it operates across more than 25 countries, with over 2,000 water professionals, and has designed and built more than 1,500 water and wastewater treatment plants.
