
Mumbai, Sept. 10 -- Torrent Green Energy, a Torrent Group company and wholly owned subsidiary of Torrent Power, has commissioned 322 megawatt?peak (MWp) of ground?mounted decentralised solar power projects in Nashik district, Maharashtra under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0 programme. The portfolio was developed to implement feeder level solarisation under Component?C of the central government PM?KUSUM scheme. The projects were completed as part of a decentralised agricultural electrification initiative and support local renewable adoption efforts among farm communities.
The solar portfolio spans 50 locations and covers 14 talukas within Nashik district, representing one of the most extensive and geographically diversified agricultural feeder solarisation implementations under the MSKVY framework. Power generated from the projects will be supplied to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited under a 25?year power purchase agreement. The deployment uses ground?mounted installations located close to irrigation feeders to serve agricultural demand and seasonal water requirements.
The decentralised configuration is intended to reduce transmission losses and to improve the reliability of supply for irrigation pumps and other farm loads, thereby supporting farm productivity and rural livelihoods. By placing generation at feeder level the scheme aims to ease pressure on central grids and to facilitate quicker integration of renewable capacity into the distribution network. The scheme also aligns with efforts to expand renewable capacity and to support national climate objectives and local environmental benefits.
Torrent Green Energy said the commissioning marks a significant expansion of its agricultural solar business and reflects collaboration with state distribution utilities and local authorities and community stakeholders. The long?term power purchase agreement provides revenue visibility for the projects and enables sustained supply to agricultural consumers over the contract period. The company will continue to pursue feeder solarisation projects and monitor performance to further decentralise agricultural power supply and to inform future deployments and operational improvements.
