Mumbai, Aug. 28 -- Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) has opened a Design and Operations Centre at its Passenger Rail Systems facility in Uttarpara, West Bengal to strengthen in-house engineering, design and operational capabilities. The centre will serve as a hub for advanced engineering, technology development and design-led innovation to support TRSL's expanding passenger rail portfolio. TRSL said the facility will enhance its ability to develop modern mobility solutions and reinforce its commitment to building rail manufacturing capabilities in India.
The inauguration was attended by Tapas Roy, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and Arjun Singh, Minister of Labour and Transport, Government of West Bengal, reflecting industry-government collaboration. Officials said their presence underlined the role of partnerships in strengthening the state's manufacturing and transportation ecosystem. They added that cooperation between government and industry is crucial to unlock sustainable growth.
TRSL said the centre marks a milestone in its long-term investment in Bengal and aligns with its commitment to Make in India, Make for the World. The company noted that products are supplied to cities including Pune, Surat, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Patna and Mumbai and that it is involved in development of next-generation Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains. TRSL added the centre will support its passenger rail business and provide a foundation for technology development and engineering excellence.
Umesh Chowdhary, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, said the centre would strengthen design, engineering and innovation capabilities and support Bengal's industrial development. He noted that continued investment in advanced manufacturing and engineering would benefit domestic and international markets. The company said improved operational efficiency is expected to follow from concentrated research and design activity at the facility.
TRSL is a mobility solutions provider with operations in India and Italy and a manufacturer of passenger and freight rolling stock. Its portfolio covers semi-high-speed trains, metro coaches, passenger coaches, propulsion systems and specialised wagons. The company said it will continue to invest in engineering, manufacturing and innovation to contribute to modern transportation in India and abroad.
