Mumbai, July 15 -- The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), in coordination with the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), has launched six dedicated metro feeder bus services to enhance first and last mile connectivity for metro commuters in Bengaluru. The services link Electronic City, Hosa Road, K R Pura and Benniganahalli metro stations with nearby residential, commercial and employment hubs, providing seamless transfers between bus and metro. The initiative was announced in an official statement and is intended to improve accessibility to stations that previously relied on less frequent or informal modes of transport.
The feeder buses will operate from five thirty am to nine ten pm and will run along predefined routes designed to serve local neighbourhoods and business districts in the vicinity of the identified stations. The services are intended to reduce travel time for commuters and encourage multimodal journeys by offering coordinated connections with metro timetables. Officials indicated that route planning was guided by passenger demand patterns and last mile requirements.
BMRCL said that the BMTC had introduced the services to facilitate commuter movement and to provide dependable and convenient options for the first and last segments of journeys. Commuters were urged to make maximum use of the dedicated feeder buses to benefit from the integrated network and to ease congestion on other modes of transport. The agencies indicated that the new services form part of broader efforts to strengthen public transport links across the city.
The launch is likely to support daily travel for office workers, students and other regular metro users who live or work near the connected corridors. Authorities encouraged feedback from passengers to refine routes and schedules and noted that adjustments could be made based on operational experience and commuter needs. Further details on fares and exact schedules were provided in the official release from the transport agencies.
