Mumbai, Nov. 2 -- Music composer and singer Salim Merchant, along with four other buyers, has acquired commercial property in Mumbai's Santacruz West for Rs. 128.5 mn. Property registration documents accessed by CRE Matrix show that the transaction was registered on 7 October 2026, with the buyers paying Rs. 7.71 mn in stamp duty.

Merchant holds a 50 per cent ownership stake in the purchase, while the other four buyers each hold a 12.5 per cent share. The agreement covers commercial premises with a combined carpet area of 1,285 sq ft and includes one car parking space.

The property was purchased from Shreeja Devcon for Rs. 128.5 mn. The premises occupy the ground and first floors of DLH Mangal Murti, with the ground floor measuring 575 sq ft and the first floor covering 710 sq ft. Together, the two floors account for the total carpet area recorded in the agreement.

The stamp duty paid represents 6 per cent of the stated transaction value. Based on the purchase price and carpet area, the transaction works out to approximately Rs. 0.1 mn per sq ft. The two-floor configuration provides a combination of ground-floor and upper-floor commercial space within the same building, along with dedicated parking. The property is located near Linking Road, an established retail high street that attracts shoppers from Santacruz West and neighbouring areas. Recent Mumbai commercial property transactions have also involved public figures. Actress Sara Ali Khan and her mother, Amrita Singh, recently leased a 2,545 sq ft office in Andheri West at an initial monthly rent of Rs. 0.585 mn. Actor Saif Ali Khan separately leased two commercial units at Kanakia Wall Street in Andheri East for a monthly rent of Rs. 2.276 mn.
