Mumbai, Sept. 2 -- Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has invited competitive bids for the construction of a new broad gauge railway line between Kulthana and Rajpura stations in Madhya Pradesh. The package is valued at Rs 1,086.65 crore, equivalent to Rs 10,866.5 million (mn). The work forms part of the Ratlam-Mhow-Khandwa gauge conversion project and encompasses major civil, tunnelling and electrification works. The invitation seeks contractors with experience in heavy civil and tunnelling works and in electrification of mainline railways.

The tender is listed under number DyCE-C-I-INDRKGC-EPC-2 and sets a bid submission deadline of 31 August 2026. The broader Ratlam-Mhow-Khandwa gauge conversion is a 473 km Western Railway project that will convert an existing metre gauge route to broad gauge to modernise the network. The package covers construction of the new broad gauge line between Kulthana and Rajpura and associated earthwork and drainage.

The scope includes earthwork, three minor bridges and seven major bridges, station buildings, seven tunnels and three mega bridges along with full line electrification. Work will also include construction of station platforms, passenger amenities, drainage and track formation as per Indian Railways standards, along with the installation of electrification masts and associated systems. The tender documentation details design standards, construction milestones and technical specifications required for execution. Contractors are required to meet statutory clearances, quality parameters and safety norms as specified in the tender.

The project aims to upgrade the old railway network and improve regional connectivity by providing a continuous broad gauge corridor through the conversion route.
