Mumbai, July 10 -- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to transform Nalagampalli village in Kuppam constituency into a model for the state after observing its implementation of Net Zero practices. Net Zero refers to a state in which greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere are balanced by their removal. On the second day of his visit to his constituency he toured households and inspected rooftop solar, induction cooktops, rainwater harvesting, kitchen composting and terrace gardening.

Taking the Nalagampalli model as a case study he instructed officials to scale the Net Zero initiative across the constituency and to include electric vehicles (EVs) within the scheme. He called for expansion of rooftop solar units and integration of other household measures to reduce reliance on grid supply and lower domestic power expenditure. The initiative will emphasise community participation and technical support for installation and maintenance.

As part of the solar expansion the Chief Minister said nearly 7,500 SC and ST families, 40,000 OBC families and over 7,000 OC families will benefit from the measures and related subsidies. Officials were asked to prioritise equitable distribution and to map households for rapid deployment of solar systems. He directed local agencies to monitor performance and report progress regularly.

The Chief Minister inaugurated CT scan and dialysis centres at the Kuppam area hospital and inspected its facilities to assess service readiness. He enquired about Sanjeevani, the health record digitisation programme, and asked officials to compile reports evaluating how the programme has benefitted residents. Officials were instructed to ensure public satisfaction with health services alongside the green initiative.

In addition to developmental directives he directed police officials to intensify action against marijuana and drug abuse and to coordinate with community organisations on prevention. He asked administrators to submit consolidated reports on implementation, impacts and any bottlenecks to facilitate scaling the model. The government will monitor outcomes and refine the approach as necessary.
