Mumbai, July 28 -- The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has continued to strengthen India's domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem through periodic updates to the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers List-II for solar photovoltaic cells. Introduced in July 2025, the framework regulates approved solar photovoltaic cell manufacturers and ensures that certified domestic products are used in projects eligible under the policy. Since its launch the ministry has issued the eighth revision up to July 2026, reflecting steady growth in manufacturing capacity and technology adoption.
The initial ALMM List-II, released on 31 July 2025, included leading manufacturers across the country, including Emmvee Energy in Karnataka, Premier Energies in Telangana, Mundra Solar in Gujarat, Jupiter International in Himachal Pradesh and FS India Solar Ventures in Tamil Nadu. These companies accounted for a significant share of domestic solar cell production capacity. Over subsequent months the list expanded as existing manufacturers increased capacity and new entrants secured approvals.
In September 2025 TP Solar joined the approved list with a 4,480 megawatt (MW) manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu while Tata Power Renewable Energy also obtained approval. Websol Energy System from West Bengal expanded its approved capacity and Waaree Energies received authorisation for additional Mono PERC and TOPCon cell models. The enlarging roster reflected both volume additions and a shift towards higher efficiency cell technologies.
During 2026 the ministry authorised high efficiency TOPCon and heterojunction (HJT) cells and Reliance Industries entered the list with HJT cells from its Jamnagar facility. Companies such as Evervolt Solar Technology, Jupiter Solartech, Renewsys India and Premier Energies added capacities while FS India Solar Ventures revised its eligible manufacturing capacity upward. The eighth revision, issued on 22 July 2026, expanded approvals with Fujiyama Power Systems rising to 1,077 MW and Avaada Electro joining with 610 MW of TOPCon capacity, and it was issued under the authority of Scientist-E Sanjay G. Karndhar and Scientist-D Priya while supporting domestic industry growth.
