Mumbai, July 1 -- Jupiter Wagons has secured fresh orders totalling Rs 2,643.2 mn from JSW (South) Rail Logistics and the Central Warehousing Corporation, the Kolkata-headquartered rolling stock maker said in a regulatory filing. The combined order book value strengthens the company's near-term revenue visibility and supports its expansion in specialised freight rolling stock. The announcement follows routine commercial bids and regulatory disclosures.
The company signed a Letter of Intent with JSW (South) Rail Logistics for the manufacture and supply of five BFNSM1 rakes along with BVCM wagons in a deal valued at Rs 1,228.8 mn. The JSW order is to be executed within seven months of the LoI being signed and the company will also supply two BFNV wagons under an earlier commitment. The scope reflects demand from private sector players for high-capacity and specialised wagons.
The Central Warehousing Corporation, a Government of India enterprise, awarded Jupiter Wagons a contract to manufacture and supply eight BLSS rakes comprising 32 BLSS-A wagons, 352 BLSS-B wagons and eight brake vans, in a contract valued at Rs 1,414.4 mn. That contract is expected to be completed within a year of the Letter of Award being issued. The orders together span both public and private sector customers and cover a mix of rake and wagon types.
The managing director said the order wins strengthen the company's growth momentum and indicated that as India invests in rail-led logistics and multimodal connectivity the firm sees sustained opportunities across customers. Jupiter Wagons makes freight wagons, locomotives, passenger coach accessories, braking systems, commercial vehicles and ISO marine containers and operates manufacturing facilities in Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Indore, Jabalpur and Aurangabad. It has tie-ups with overseas partners including Tatravagonka Poprad of Slovakia, DAKO-CZ of the Czech Republic, Kovis of Slovenia and Telleres Alegria of Spain and counts Indian Railways, the Ministry of Defence, Tata Motors, GE and Volvo Eicher Motors among its clients.
