
Mumbai, Sept. 3 -- John Cockerill India has secured an order worth Rs 200 crore (2,000 million (mn)) from A1 Iron & Steel Tanzania for steel processing equipment at a plant in Dodoma, Tanzania. The contract covers a push-pull pickling line, a six-Hi single stand reversible cold rolling mill, a continuous galvanising line and an acid regeneration plant. The project is scheduled to be executed within 10 months from August 2026.
The company clarified that the order does not constitute a related-party transaction and that the promoter group has no interest in the awarding entity. John Cockerill India is a subsidiary of Belgium-based John Cockerill SA and provides design, engineering, manufacturing and installation solutions for steel processing equipment and production lines. The business serves ferrous and non-ferrous metal manufacturers globally.
On the financial front the company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs seven point three six crore (73.6 mn) in the quarter ended March 2026, compared with a net loss of Rs two point nine one crore (29.1 mn) in the like quarter a year earlier. Revenue rose 56 per cent year-on-year to Rs 344.52 crore (3,445.2 mn) during the quarter. Shares of John Cockerill India rose zero point four four per cent to settle at Rs 8,125.40 on Friday 28 August 2026. The firm noted that the order will be executed from its project and engineering teams.
The contract follows the company strategy to expand in emerging markets and to supply complete lines and ancillary systems. Execution within the stipulated timeline will require coordination across design, manufacturing and installation divisions and overseas project management. The company will proceed with mobilisation and deployment while maintaining compliance with contractual and export requirements.
