
Mumbai, June 29 -- Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (JMRC) has awarded a Rs 761.4 million (Rs 761.4 mn) electrification contract to Jakson Limited to supply and install core electrical systems for the Jaipur metro network. The contract was signed on 18 June 2026 and carries a completion period of 1,096 days. It covers both underground and elevated sections and forms part of JMRC efforts to upgrade and expand its power infrastructure for reliable operations and asset resilience.
The scope of work includes design, detail engineering, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 25 kV traction systems identified as ROCS and FOCS alongside 33 kV auxiliary substations, associated cabling and supervisory control and data acquisition systems for both tunnel and elevated corridors. The contractor will be responsible for integration with existing infrastructure, validation of protection schemes and coordinating interfaces with signalling and operations teams to ensure interoperability and system safety standards are maintained.
Jakson Limited was declared the lowest evaluated bidder after technical review with rival KRCL excluded during evaluation. The award reflects JMRC priority to secure specialised power solutions that can support higher service frequencies and reduced downtime. Project delivery will require coordination across civil, electrical and commissioning disciplines and will follow contractual milestones tied to performance testing and regulatory compliance to meet urban transit reliability objectives set by the corporation for current and future services provision.
The contract value converted equals Rs 761.4 million and represents a targeted investment in power assets that are critical to safe train movement and passenger service continuity. JMRC officials indicated that timely execution within the 1,096 day period will be essential to support planned operational enhancements. The contract award forms part of broader efforts to strengthen network resilience and to enable scalable expansion while adhering to safety governance and technical standards throughout delivery cycles ahead.
