Mumbai, Oct. 28 -- JK Lakshmi Cement has shifted nearly all clinker dispatches from its Sirohi plant in Rajasthan to its Kalol Grinding Unit in Gujarat to electric vehicles (EVs). The company said the change marks progress in adopting electric mobility for long-haul transport and reducing the environmental impact of its logistics operations.

More than 70 EVs are deployed across routes connecting Sirohi with the Kalol Grinding Unit, Palanpur Unit and Surat Grinding Unit. JK Lakshmi Cement is working with EV logistics providers SwitchLabs and Billion E to support the operations. It plans to increase its fleet to 120 vehicles by March 2027.

Chairperson and Managing Director Vinita Singhania said the Sirohi-Kalol route was an important milestone in the company's efforts to scale cleaner transport while maintaining business efficiency.

The EV programme is part of JK Lakshmi Cement's green logistics and decarbonisation strategy. The company said its broader sustainability roadmap includes a long-term ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2047.
