
Mumbai, July 20 -- Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) has invited bids to select renewable energy service companies for the development of grid connected rooftop solar projects totalling 154 megawatt peak (MWp) in the Jammu division. The projects are to be implemented under the utility led aggregation model across 10 districts under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The tender seeks vendors able to undertake comprehensive delivery from design and engineering to operation and maintenance.
The scope includes the financing supply and installation of two kilowatt peak (kWp) systems for Antyodaya Anna Yojana households and covers testing commissioning and ongoing operations. Where suitable rooftop space is not available the scheme allows for combined rooftop installations on nearby public or government buildings with benefits extended to eligible households through virtual metering where feasible. The approach is intended to widen access to distributed solar generation for low income beneficiaries within the utility jurisdiction.
The projects are expected to cover around 77,000 Antyodaya households in the division and the tender specifies a bid processing fee of Rs 20,000 for each district. Bidders must submit proposals by the deadline on August six, 2026 and comply with technical and commercial requirements set out in the bid documents. The procurement aims to support local deployment of rooftop solar and reduce reliance on conventional supply during peak periods.
Earlier procurement in September 2025 by Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited for a five megawatt grid connected rooftop project across the union territory provided a precedent for similar government led initiatives. Observers note that utility led aggregation can simplify coordination and tariff settlement while requiring robust metering and administrative arrangements. The Jammu tender is positioned to extend distributed capacity and deliver household level benefits while contributing to broader renewable targets.
