Mumbai, Sept. 24 -- The Delhi government will construct a new state guest house in Sector 19, Dwarka, at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.52 bn, officials said. The proposed facility, to be named Delhi Sadan, will provide accommodation for government guests and be equipped with modern facilities designed to meet global standards.
The project will be developed on Plot 5, which covers 3,899.42 square metres. It received approval at a recent meeting of the Delhi Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC), chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The committee also approved and sanctioned the project proposal.
The Delhi government regularly hosts domestic and international dignitaries, officials and other visitors attending official trips, meetings and conferences. At present, the administration does not have a dedicated state guest house, creating difficulties in arranging accommodation and hospitality for visitors from outside the city.
The proposed facility is intended to provide reliable, secure and economical accommodation for these guests. Its design will include elements inspired by the architectural heritage of medieval Delhi, linking the building's function as an official guest house with the capital's history.
The land for the project was allocated in March 2020 by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to the Tourism Department of the Delhi government. The latest EFC decision clears the financial and administrative proposal, allowing the government to proceed with plans for the guest house in Dwarka. The facility is expected to strengthen the city's arrangements for hosting official visitors and delegations.
