Mumbai, Oct. 29 -- Coal India has awarded a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Choutuppal, Telangana, to Pace Digitek for Rs. 10.74 bn. Pace Digitek emerged as the successful bidder from a field of 11 companies that participated in the tender.

The other participating bidders included the Kosol Energy-DEC Infrastructure joint venture, KPI Green-Amara Raja, Larsen & Toubro, Jackson, Waaree Renewable Technologies and O2 Power. The project follows Coal India's earlier success in securing a 187.5 MW/750 MWh BESS project from Telangana State Generation Corporation (TSGENCO).

The 750 MWh project is designed to provide four hours of energy storage and carries a tariff of Rs. 0.31 mn per MW per month. The project will be developed at Choutuppal and forms part of the expansion of standalone energy storage capacity in Telangana.

In a separate tender, Pace Digitek secured a 125 MW/250 MWh BESS project in Telangana. The company had also won a share of TSGENCO's 250 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS tender in March 2025, with the award distributed among three successful bidders.

Bondada Engineering won 50 MW in that tender at Rs. 0.24 mn per MW per month, while TrueRE-Oriana Power won another 50 MW at Rs. 0.25 mn per MW per month. Pace Digitek has also received a Letter of Intent from BSES Rajdhani Power for a 57.5 MW/115 MWh standalone BESS project in Delhi.

The Delhi project covers four grid substations: Sagarpur-DESU Colony, with 30 MW/60 MWh; Bindapur, with 15 MW/30 MWh; Hari Nagar, with 7.5 MW/15 MWh; and G4, with 5 MW/10 MWh. Together, these awards expand Pace Digitek's portfolio of utility-scale storage projects across India.
