Mumbai, Oct. 27 -- Bondada Engineering has received a Letter of Intent from Gujarat Industries Power Company for an engineering, procurement and construction package for a 20 MW/120 MWh Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Energy Storage System at GIPCL's 165 MW natural gas power plant complex in Vadodara, Gujarat. The award also includes operations and maintenance services for 10 years.

The project is scheduled for completion within 18 months of receipt of the notice of award. GIPCL is a domestic entity, and the disclosure stated that the contract does not involve any interest of Bondada Engineering's promoter, promoter group or group companies. It also does not fall under related-party transactions.

The order marks Bondada Engineering's expansion into advanced energy storage technologies and complements its renewable energy engineering, procurement and construction portfolio. The company described the project as India's largest grid-scale Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Energy Storage System project, positioning it in the long-duration energy storage segment.

The company's disclosure highlighted the growth potential of India's energy storage market as renewable energy capacity expands and the need for grid stability increases. The Government of India has set a target of deploying approximately 236 GWh of battery energy storage systems by 2030, compared with current installed capacity of around 9.3 GWh.

Bondada Engineering said the project would strengthen its position in the battery energy storage system sector and support its participation in India's clean energy ecosystem. The company is expected to undertake the EPC scope and subsequent operations and maintenance obligations under the award from Gujarat Industries Power Company.
