Mumbai, Oct. 29 -- Bajel Projects has secured its largest-ever transmission contract, valued at Rs. 15 bn including Goods and Services Tax, from Lakadia A Power Transmission for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works in Gujarat. The company announced the order on October 26, 2026, saying it comprises multiple Letters of Award for transmission lines and substations.

The project involves constructing around 270 km of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines between Halvad and Vadodara. Additional works will be undertaken at the Halvad, Vadodara and South Olpad substations, with completion scheduled within 36 months from the date of purchase order issuance.

The transmission system is part of the Common Transmission System for evacuation of power from Lakadia Phase II, with a capacity of 7.5 GW, Jam Khambhaliya Phase II with 5.5 GW and Jamnagar Phase I with 1 GW. The wider network is intended to evacuate nearly 14 GW of renewable power from the three regions.

Lakadia A Power Transmission is a special purpose vehicle transferred by Power Finance Corporation Consulting to AnantGrid Projects One for developing the system. AnantGrid is jointly owned by Bajel Projects, which holds a 26 per cent stake, and the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund, which owns the remaining 74 per cent; the consortium won the tariff-based competitive bidding process in August 2026.

Bajel Projects classifies the contract as an ultra-mega project under its internal policy, covering orders of Rs. 4 bn or more and including GST in the calculation. The company said the contract combines its EPC role with that of a project developer and will support renewable energy integration in high-potential areas of Gujarat, in line with India's target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030. It also said the transaction was executed at arm's length after shareholder approval and that its promoters, promoter group and group companies have no interest in the awarding entity.
