Mumbai, July 28 -- Adani Enterprises has said it is not considering any plan to enter the airline business, dismissing recent media reports and market speculation. In an exchange filing the company stated that it was not evaluating any proposal to enter the airline business and denied that it planned to launch an airline. The firm characterised the reports as baseless and factually incorrect.
The clarification followed reports that the Adani Group was exploring changes to rules that prevent operators of Delhi and Mumbai airports from owning more than a 10 per cent stake in a scheduled airline. The company emphasised that while it operates airports it had no intent to expand into commercial airline operations. Market commentary had linked the group's airport ownership with potential aviation stakes but the firm rejected such links. Regulators have not publicly confirmed any rule change proposals.
The group has continued to expand its airport business and Adani Enterprises now operates eight airports across India, including Mumbai, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram. It has pursued integrated developments around airports, planning hotels, retail spaces and office complexes to create business hubs. Adani Ports remains one of the largest private port operators by cargo volume, managing 15 ports including Mundra Port in Gujarat. The group's integrated approach seeks to link transport infrastructure with commercial growth in regional markets.
Recent corporate moves include a partnership with Uber to host the ride hailing company's first data centre in India and announcements of major investments to build AI ready data centres powered by renewable energy by 2035. Company statements indicate these efforts form part of a broader strategy to strengthen digital and infrastructure capabilities rather than to launch scheduled air services. Analysts and market participants will likely continue to watch regulatory settings and the group's expanding infrastructure footprint. Investors and stakeholders will assess any regulatory developments closely.
