Mumbai, Aug. 12 -- ACME Solar has announced plans to invest up to Rs200 billion (Rs200 bn) to expand its renewable energy portfolio across solar, wind, hybrid and energy storage technologies. The company indicated that the proposed capital expenditure represents one of its most ambitious growth initiatives and reflects strong momentum in India's clean energy sector. The programme is to be implemented over multiple phases and will target regions with high renewable resources and robust transmission connectivity.
A substantial portion of the funding will be directed towards utility-scale solar projects, with priority given to states offering high solar irradiation and supportive policy frameworks. The firm intends to adopt advanced solar technologies including high-efficiency modules, tracking systems and digital monitoring to enhance energy yields and project economics over operational life. Expansion in the wind segment is also planned to diversify generation and to provide complementary output across different hours and seasons.
Hybrid projects that combine solar and wind generation are expected to form a key part of the pipeline, improving utilisation of transmission infrastructure and delivering more consistent power output. The addition of battery energy storage systems will be used to enhance dispatchability, support peak demand management and reduce curtailment of renewable generation. Such measures are to strengthen grid integration and help utilities accommodate larger shares of non-fossil fuel generation without compromising reliability.
The company plans to finance the programme through a mix of long-term debt, equity and internal accruals and may seek strategic partnerships to optimise capital structure. Successful execution will require disciplined capital allocation, timely commissioning and effective project management to realise sustainable returns. The expansion is expected to generate jobs during construction and operations and to support regional economic activity, supply chain development and India's broader transition towards a lower carbon power system.
