SpaceX Closes $60 Billion Cursor Deal, Expands AI Ambitions
New Delhi, Aug. 16 -- SpaceX has recently closed the acquisition of AI coding startup Cursor. Cursor said on August 15 that the acquisition has officially closed, bringing the AI coding company into SpaceX. The transaction follows an agreement announced in April that combined technology development between the two companies with an option for SpaceX to acquire Cursor for $60 billion.
The companies said in June that they were moving ahead with the acquisition.
For SpaceX, the deal adds an AI software layer to a business increasingly tied to computing infrastructure. For Cursor, the immediate strategic change is access to the computing resources SpaceX has been building.
