Meta Faces Government Scrutiny Over PM Modi's Post Removal
New Delhi, July 29 -- For social media companies, content moderation is no longer only about removing harmful posts. Every moderation decision, whether made by automated systems or through human review, now carries regulatory and political consequences, especially when public institutions are involved.
That reality came into focus after the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) summoned Meta's global public policy head following the temporary removal of a Facebook video posted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
