New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- GalaxEye, the Bengaluru-based space technology startup, said on September 8 that it has received a US patent covering the core technology behind its OptoSAR imaging system. According to the company, it is the first Indian startup to receive a US patent for satellite imaging technology.

The patent covers an architecture designed to align and synchronize optical and microwave sensors so that they can capture data from the same area at the same time. GalaxEye says the same foundational technology has already been patented in India.
