U.S. Treasury Yields Surge on Rising Oil Prices and Fed Rate Hike Concerns
Mumbai, Aug. 3 -- U.S. Treasury yields surged Friday, following oil prices higher amid signs that the U.S. Federal Reserve could hike rates in the autumn as threats to global oil supplies escalate.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note - used to price mortgages, auto loans and credit card debt - jumped nearly 5 bps to 4.71%. The 2-year Treasury note yield rose more than 4 bps to 4.27% while the 30-year Treasury bond yield also surged more than 4 bps to 5.24%.
