Mumbai, May 8 -- Silver jumped sharply yesterday, testing three-week high above $82 per ounce as safe haven demand pushed up the metal. US stocks sank and oil prices jumped as U.S.-Iran clashes in the Strait of Hormuz jolted hopes for a deal to end the war. Silver has been rising this week and is currently quoting at $80.73 per ounce, up 0.68% on the day. The metal has gained 5.60% this week. MCX Silver futures also jumped impressively following this and currently trade at Rs 261491 per kg, up 1.32% on the day. The counter was volatile though, testing lows around Rs 258400 per kg before rebounding. The counter jumped around 2% in last session.
