Mumbai, Nov. 2 -- The key equity benchmarks continued to trade with major gains in the mid-morning trade. The Nifty traded above the 23,300 level. Metal shares advanced after declining in the past trading session.

At 11:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 996.22 points or 1.34% to 75,455.75. The Nifty 50 index rose 286.20 points or 1.22% to 23,338.00.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index gained 1.21% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 1.68%.

The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,764 shares rose and 1,309 shares fell. A total of 265 shares were unchanged.
