Precious Metals Preview: COMEX gold steadies above $4300 mark
Mumbai, Sept. 23 -- COMEX gold steadies above $4300 mark on Wednesday morning in Asia in line with declining oil prices and easing concerns over higher inflation and interest rates. Reports indicate that US officials had a very good meeting with Iranian envoys, while Tehran said it could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the US eases military pressure and lifts its blockade of Iranian ports. However, St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem said that the Fed will likely need to hike rates further to lower inflation resulting from strong demand as well as a commodity price shock that has moved beyond oil, adding that it would be better for the Fed to act sooner than wait.
