Mumbai, Oct. 21 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with major gains in early trade. The Nifty traded above the 23,050 mark. Barring media, all other sectoral indices traded in the green on the NSE.

At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 667.93 points or 0.90% to 74,520.83. The Nifty 50 index added 188.55 points or 0.82% to 23,077.60.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index rose 0.17% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 0.21%.

The market breadth was negative. On the BSE, 1,410 shares rose and 1,662 shares fell. A total of 224 shares were unchanged.
