Mumbai, Nov. 3 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with major gains in the morning trade. The Nifty traded above the 23,600 level. FMCG shares extended gains for the second consecutive trading session.

At 10:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 837.91 points or 1.11% to 76,565.66. The Nifty 50 index rose 173.75 points or 0.74% to 23,614.55.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index gained 0.89% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.87%.

The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,762 shares rose and 1,089 shares fell. A total of 235 shares were unchanged.
