Nifty above 23,400 level; FMCG shares advance
Mumbai, Sept. 23 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with modest gains in mid-morning trade as crude oil prices fell below the $100-per-barrel mark, easing concerns over inflation and the country's import bill. Investors also remained focused on global developments, including the ongoing talks between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Nifty traded above the 23,400 level, while FMCG shares advanced after declining in the past trading session.
At 11:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 328.91 points or 0.44% to 74,857.99. The Nifty 50 index rose 104.55 points or 0.40% to 23,432.05.
In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index added 0.45% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rose 0.48%.
