Mumbai, Nov. 6 -- The key equity benchmarks traded sideways in early trade. The Nifty traded above the 24,550 mark. Barring IT, all other sectoral indices traded in the red on the NSE.

At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 159.10 points or 0.19% to 79,436.11. The Nifty 50 index rose 16.20 points or 0.07% to 24,523.20.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index declined 1.21% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 1.48%.

The market breadth was weak. On the BSE, 1,016 shares rose and 2,183 shares fell. A total of 182 shares were unchanged.
